The National Annex to Part 2 EC7 has been published in late 2009. As there are no Nationally Determined Parameters in Part 2, the thrust of the text is to render the example design methods, correlations and guidance, which is mostly contained in Informative Annexes, as being of interest but not compulsory. This information can be used, and if different approaches are used, these should be cited in the Geotechnical Design report.

The first Amendment to BS 5930:1999 was published in December 2007. The change in title is quite subtle, so watch out - it is BS 5930:1999 Amendment 1. Reference to BS5930 has to be taken to mean the Amendment, not its predecessor. This update includes revisions to Section 6 to align with BS EN ISO 14688 and 14689.

Amendment 2 is also on its way, wit the comment period on the having just closed. There is no possibility of an Amendment 3, and so the next stage is full revision. The Mirror Committee are taking the view that this will not be hurried, in order to avoid loading industry with yet another purchase. However, this means that the transition period as more EN ISO standards are being published and implemented will not be covered by any central guidance document for a while. Amendment 2 includes updated text to cover the implementation of the SPT and DP to align with BS EN ISO 22476-2 and 22476-3 and on drilling and sampling methods to align with BS EN ISO 22475-1.

The Technical Specifications on Qualifications and Criteria for individuals and businesses are being upgraded by publication of BS 22475-2 and 22475-3 which will be available shortly.
